Today, though I feel like formally introducing our new venture – Sirtica Ship management, I am more inclined to answer, why did I choose the name ‘Sirtica’ for the company.
Some of you are aware that I have recently started my own venture for which there were many name options to choose from, but then, what I zeroed down on, was ‘Sirtica’. And the feedback I received was – Why Sirtica?
Well, ‘Sirtica’ is a vast sandy desert region that is essentially a northward extension of the Sahara desert. The region lies in the Mediterranean Sea, along the southern part of gulf of Sidra which has a great historical significance. During 500 BC an altar was erected in the region to mark the boundary between the Greek (eastern) and Punic (western) realms. Now, these have great personal connection with me.
Cyprus, situated in the mediterranean sea, has been home to me for over 11 years. During this time, I have come to like and appreciate the culture around me and made many Greek friends. Apart from this, I wanted to create a business that is vast and limitless, that, which is universal. Just like the ocean or the desert. Now, most of the ocean names are taken by 2023, so I turned to the desert (pun intended).
Having said that, the name instantly connected with me. It felt sure, it felt right, it felt certain. And so with SIRTICA you can be CERTAIN!
Would be happy to hear what you think about it! In the mean time, I invite you all to check our website www.sirticashipmanagement.com
