The Safety Management System (SMS) is an organized system planned and implemented by the shipping companies to ensure safety of the ship and marine environment and consists of the following elements:

• Commitment from top management
• Policy manual
• Procedures documents for normal operations and in emergency situations
• Procedures for conducting internal and external audits
• Designated person ashore (link between the ships and shore staff)
• System for identifying where actual practices are not met
• Regular management review

Inaccordance with the International Safety Management Code (ISM Code) that provides an international standard for safe management and operation of ships at sea, Sirtica, has designed an internal IMS Code that details all the important policies, practices and procedures which must be followed in order to operate assests.

Our Safety management system is the backbone of our operation. SMS has been designed keeping in mind the highest standard that is being followed in the industry. We have devised clear guide line/ duties for individuals on board and offshore for safe, clean and sustainable operation of vessel.

Right from a database of critical spare requirement in engine room or deck to organizing for cargo gears for various type of vessel has been defined in detail. Special focus has been given on reliability of machinery and maintenance record ensuring routine checks to avoid any misfortunate event

We believe emergency situations should be handled in a confident and calm manner and this can only be achieved if the company has well established emergency plans, procedures and trained staff for different situations. Our learnings from circumstances have been our strength over years and this has been documented well in our manuals. Incase of any breakdown, we capture data and carry out detailed root cause analysis to make sure in avoiding similar failures in future.

All critical operation on board and shore are well defined.  Such operations are supported by risk assessment which is thoroughly reviewed by our on shore team to mitigate any kind of risk beforehand. Our on board team are trained to carry out on-site assessment, prior to commencement of any task to ensure reduction of risk and increasing productivity.

Any introduction of new process or machinery on board is being properly supported by management of change. Management of change ensures that there is seamless transition from old to new system.
